Fred Miller grew up in Williamsburg and spent his youth exploring and playing in the historic area. His earliest experiences in photography were taking pictures in Williamsburg’s historic area and then developing them in his family’s darkroom. These early experiences gave him a strong appreciation of both architecture and its photography.
Miller worked in professional photography for twenty five years and created scenic photographs almost as a hobby. His scenic views of Williamsburg are in many personal and corporate collections around the Mid-Atlantic States. His newer work has taken a different format and what he calls “a fresh look.”
These digital original prints are captured by a digital camera then worked over in the digital darkroom to alter the images and create a highly personal interpretation of the scenes depicted. Printed on fine art paper in short editions they have been described as “printerly” and probably reveal Miller’s frustrated printmaker side.
